IThe Department of Science and Humanities encompasses a varied curriculum such  as English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This  development of these varied sciences to the first year BE students irrespective of their branch of study.

This department offers courses on communication skills which help them to excel in their professional career. The department is also well equipped with physics and chemistry laboratories.

It also has a well established  Language laboratory enabling the students to enhance their soft skills. The department has a CAREER LAB installed which trains the students to attend interviews and group discussions. This enables them to be  placed in Multi National Companies.

Electronics and communication engineering branch has been the back bone of development of technology. Keeping pace with this development, the laboratories are instituted in this college. It has been possible with the combined strength of the facilities and faculties in the department, to make ECE department to be in the forefront of development of the college in the short span of time. The facilities included:

The Department aims to inculcate profound knowledge and skill in the areas of Computer Hardware and Software Developments. We have excellent lab facilities. Students are always giving the best opportunities for independent thinking, which will help them in utilizing their potential creativity.
            Our campus provides the most modern and congenial atmosphere for Computer Education. The Computer Science & Engineering department has four full fledged Computer Labs and the facilities include:

•  Object oriented programming lab
• 24 hours Internet facility

The main objective of the Department is to acquaint the students with all aspects of today’s modern electrical and electronics engineering world and train them to be competent in analysis & design.
           
The Department has well equipped instructional areas and workshops. The computing infrastructure is highly developed, with networked PC’s and engineering workstation offering a variety of software packages and development including Mic control system & power electronic facilities.

Information Technology is a discipline which helps to Storage, Processing, Transmission and Exploitation of information to satisfy the person’s organization. To achieve good quality software engineers, we use some software tools like Rational Rose, Win Runner, Load Runner etc., The Department of IT prepares our students to be software engineers and make them meet the level of the industrial requirements, and the concepts of different technologies like Bio-Informatics, Nano Technology have sprouted from Information Technology.

The Department of Management Studies was started in the year 2005 to meet the growing demands for competent managers in the changing global scenario. Through this program, students acquire a strong theoretical foundation in Business Administration that provides them with excellent preparation for a career in management. The practical application of business principles is emphasized at all levels to give students a solid ground for a successful business career. By doing an MBA at SMEC, students will give themselves a competitive advantage.

The Department of Computer Applications was established in the year 2008 a separate block. The Department makes every effort to enrich and enhance the knowledge of students through value based education. Since its inception, the department has progressed with a vision and strong commitment to the development of quality IT professionals. It has well qualified and dedicated staff.
